About Tempe Leadership Since 1985, more than 400 men and women have graduated from the Tempe Leadership program. Each class consists of a diverse group of individuals from the business community, the City of Tempe, community volunteers, and non-profit organizations.
OUR MISSION
Tempe Leadership identifies emerging leaders and fosters leadership skills through education, experience, exposure and service to our community in order to sustain qualified citizens, employees and leaders for the future of the Tempe community.
THE PROGRAM
Tempe Leadership is a nine-month program that teaches participants about the strengths, needs and challenges facing Tempe.
Components of the program include:
- Overnight Retreat - provides a class "bonding" experience and an overview of the program
- Monthly Issue Days - class members will spend two days per month learning about education; business; government; environment and transportation; human services; media; crime and justice; and higher learning in the Tempe community.
- Leadership Focus - each class member will shadow the community leader of his/her own choosing.
- Class Project - the class, acting as a team, will develop and carry out a project that benefits the community. The class must work outside of regular meetings to complete the project and is responsible for the project budget, including any associated fundraising.
