Tempe Leadership Publicity Policy
By Tempe Leadership Board of Directors
March 05, 2005

Periodically, individuals and organizations desire to distribute their organization’s information about an event using the Tempe Leadership Alumni list. The following are guidelines for the use of the alumni/class/board list and distribution of information in support of Tempe Leadership Alumni.

Operational Guidelines:
1)     Tempe Leadership’s goal is to create leaders who become involved in community activities. Tempe Leadership seeks to support those leaders who are actively involved in community activities and who are directly involved in or are leading an activity.
2)     Tempe Leadership will protect the privacy of its alumni, class and board members by not releasing name and address information.
3)     Tempe Leadership endorses the distribution of appropriate civic and community information in support of its alumni, class and board members.
4)     The Tempe Leadership Executive Committee will review and have final approval for all requests for publicity. Community, civic and non-profit events will be considered. Business, political and religion based organization requests will not be considered.

Operational Process:

1)     E-mail, roster and mailing labels can only be used for Tempe Leadership business. Examples of Tempe Leadership Business include: the Tempe Leadership Newsletter, alumni reception, Tempe Cares, and IMAX.

2)     Individuals can submit individual information for printing in the Alumni Updates section of the Tempe Leadership newsletter relating to any business or community activity they may be involved in (Alumni Updates are limited to 100 words).

3)     Tempe Leadership will distribute an email on a monthly basis to all alumni and board members publicizing community, non-profit and civic events that a Tempe Leadership alumni, class member, or board member is involved in. Involvement means that the Tempe Leadership individual is directly involved in the planning, coordinating or directing of the activity to be publicized. Examples include the Dragon Boat Races, Empty Bowls, the Governor’s Ball, Don Carlos Humanitarian Award Reception, the TCAA Wine Tasting and requests for volunteers.

4)     The Tempe Leadership email will be distributed on the first Monday of each calendar month. Publicity information must be sent to the Tempe Leadership office by the 15th of the prior month and cannot exceed one page in length. Links to individual activity web sites should be included in the submitted publicity information. The Tempe Leadership member’s name will be listed in the email with the information. Information for the current month and the following month will be included in the email.
