What is Tempe Cares?

The Tempe Cares Project, founded in 1991, is the inspiration of former Tempe City Councilwoman Carol E. Smith who suggested the Tempe Leadership Program sponsor Tempe’s equivalent of Christmas in April.

The mission of Tempe Cares is to organize citizen volunteers to reduce blight and improve the appearance of Tempe’s neighborhoods and community spaces.

Tempe Cares has grown annually to include several hundred individuals, groups and businesses.  Each year these volunteers come together to invest their combined resources of skilled and unskilled physical labor, tools and building materials to help improve the quality of life for the citizens of Tempe.

Tempe Cares owes its success to the many individuals who come out on the day of the event and dedicate their time, toil, and heart to the betterment of others in their community.  Our volunteers come from many of our sponsors plus organizations such as:

Kiwanis Clubs of Tempe
Tempe Leadership Alumni
Tempe Youth Leadership
Tempe Police & Fire Departments
Tempe Public Works Department
Tempe Rotary Clubs
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts & Explorer Posts
Local High School Organizations, Businesses,
Neighborhoods, and Religious Organizations

People Just Like You

Of increasing importance is the participation of construction contractors who provide the very needed skilled craftsmanship in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, tree trimming, and landscaping.  We are always looking for local contractors to get involved with Tempe Cares.

A list of our partners can be seen by selecting the Tempe Cares Partners link above.

Show that you care about Tempe’s neighborhoods!  This is a worthwhile
project and you are critical to its success!  To volunteer, contact Tempe Leadership at Info@TempeLeadership.org  or call 480-736-4281.
